Chelsea fans may have thought their summer was about to go off with a bang after finally being able to sack manager Antonio Conte and seeing Maurizio Sarri arrive – yet that doesn’t seem to be the case.
For a club who never are short of the drama, they’ve found themselves struggling to hold on to both Eden Hazard and their goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois this summer.
Hazard has stalled on a new deal – fair enough when you don’t have a clue who your new manager might be, but now Courtois is following suit.
The goalie was speaking about his new deal, and it’s not good news for the Blues.
The Telegraph report he said: “I will go back and I will see what they want and how they say it. Obviously, with this World Cup, I think what was on the table is different than what I can have.
“In this World Cup, I have ignored all the speculation, all the rumours. But now, in the next few days, I will have a chat with my agent and see what Chelsea told him, and then we will talk. But I feel happy at Chelsea, it’s not that I necessarily want to leave.”
The other big issue for Chelsea is of course Hazard – who seems to be less bothered about money and more bothered about playing for a club he thinks are the best in the world.
Chelsea fans might think their side are a top class one – and they’ve certainly won enough trophies in the past to warrant that thought process, but since Hazard has been there, they’ve been out of the Champions League more often than not, and it could well be the case he finally makes good on his love for Real Madrid – something he’s been threatening to do for some time now.
